Sidhe plans to Shatter the PSN

If the recent announcement of Critter Crunch didn’t get you going perhaps the upcoming Shatter will. The game which is from New Zealand based developers Sidhe follows the retro brick-breaking game mechanic but takes things to the next level.

THQ announces MX vs. ATV: Reflex

If games like Motorstorm: Pacific Rift and Pure didn’t wet your appetite for off road action then you’re in luck as THQ today announced the latest installment in the MX vs. ATV series, MX vs. ATV: Reflex.

Rebellion discusses Alien vs. Predator

When it comes to the Alien vs. Predator franchise I’m usually a bit more critical of it mainly because I love both characters. As a kid I watched the Alien and Predator movies and fell in love with them and dreamed of when these two characters would perhaps team up somehow or perhaps face off against one another. This dream finally came true in the early 90s with the Dark Horse Alien vs. Predator comic which I read along with the novelization which came out a few years later.

Valve announces Sniper update for Team Fortress 2

I really wanted to like Team Fortress 2. I enjoyed all the videos that Valve has posted online, and I love the art style. But it’s one of those games where I could never find my niche.

LucasArts rehash to surface at E3

Generally speaking I’m not a big fan of rumours. I like to have some information to go on. Something that I can plant firmly into the category of “fact”, before I let myself get too excited.  But after reading a recent story at Destructoid, you’ll need to allow me this indulgence.

Blizzard dashes hopes of World of Starcraft.

Posted in

A long, long time ago Blizzard dropped an MMO which would eventually go on to reshape and define online gaming for the majority of “mamorpagamers”.  World of Warcraft all these many years later is still pulling in unfathomable sales figures, with an absolutely disgusting install base.

Hideo Kojima is up to his old tricks again

Over the years we’ve come to know Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima as somewhat of a trickster who has no problem playing tricks or practical jokes on his audience. As you may have read by now on reputable and not so reputable gaming sites it seems like Mr. Kojima is up to his usual tricks again. This time it’s in the form of a mysterious magazine ad and a blank page on the Kojima Productions website.

First details on DJ Hero

Activision’s upcoming DJ Hero has been under a veil of secrecy with only a few rumors and a hint at what its turntable will look like being released so far. Thankfully score tracking site ScoreHero has the first info on DJ Hero from the upcoming Game Informer preview and the info certainly won’t disappoint those who have been waiting for the game.

Critter Crunch is hungry for the PSN

So far the PSN seems to be on a roll when it comes to presenting unique and original games like Flower, The Last Guy and the PixelJunk series and today yet another unique game was announced today in the form of Critter Crunch.

Critter Crunch comes from Toronto based indie developer Capy. The game revolves around a unique "food chain" mechanic that has you feeding creatures to one another until they explode. It may sound strange and a bit morbid but the bright colors and cute art design will definately turn any frowns upside down.

QuarterSave Podcast - Episode 01 and Pilot Episode 00

Introducing QuarterSave podcast!: Roundtable discussions about video game news, previews, and reviews! After having to take a week long break due to some technical woes we were finally able to put together the new podcast. This week a bigger show then previously recorded in the “pilot” episode seeing as we had 2 weeks of stories to get through.

First Modern Warfare 2 details

Game Informer announced yesterday that they would have have the exclusive first look at the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 and today some details from that issue have leaked from some subscribers who are lucky enough to have their issues already.

Since I don't have my issue yet and there isn't a properly detailed listing of most of the info I'll just be listing off the key points and giving some of my thoughts on them:

Jerry Bruckheimer is in the game business now

Jerry Bruckheimer doesn’t seem content with producing hit movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean” or TV shows like the countless “CSI” shows and is now focusing on the world of video games.

In order to complete his plans of world domination of all media Bruckheimer has enlisted industry veteran Jim Veevaert, who spent eight years at Microsoft working with companies like Bungie and Epic, and Jay Cohen who worked at Ubisoft working on hits like Assassins Creed and Ghost Recon.

The WTF movie story of the day

For awhile we’ve known that Hollywood is pretty much devoid of originality when it comes to movies with the majority of releases based on comic books, TV shows, or videogames. There have definitely been some odd choices made to which property will get the big screen treatment but I think the announcement that was made today tops them all: American Gladiators is becoming a feature film.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 won't be appearing on PS3/360

Late last year it was announced that the long rumored Star Wars Battlefront 3 that was being developed by Free Radical was being cancelled by LucasArts for unknown reasons. Later it was believed that developer Rebellion, who was responsible for the last PSP installment of Battlefront, would be taking over development duties but it wasn’t clear if they were be picking up from where Free Radical left off or starting from scratch.

Modern Warfare 2 commercial

It seems like the industry is slowing ramping up for E3 already with a bevy of leaks and rumors hitting net in the recent days and now we're starting to get official media for some of the big games that will appear at the show next month. In a somewhat odd move Activision has aired the first commercial for the highly awaited Modern Warfare 2 during a NBA playoff game. The commercial is extremely short but it's the first time we've seen in the game in action and it doesn't seem to disappoint.

First look at the Prince of Persia movie

The film adaptation of the popular Prince of Persia series has been long in the making and so far the only media we've gotten from the film has been a few images and behind the scenes photos of Jake Gyllenhaal walking around looking uber ripped.

Is Apple looking to buy Electronic Arts after EA's ninth straight quarterly loss?

On Tuesday Electronic Arts games posted their 9th striaght quarter loss. They also declared that revenue for the year will be lower than projected. What does this mean in the world of gaming? Nothing according to EA management who say they have the situation under control. Did I miss something? How do you have the situation under control when you lose $600million in sales for a year? That's not exactly misplacing your beer money.

Full introduction video for upcoming Prototype released!

Those eager to get their optic orbs on footage from the upcoming Prototype game were treated today. The full cinematic intro for the game's opening was released in high definition. Its intro shows us a bit of what we already saw in the earlier teaser footage, post-apocalyptic looking New York City being swept by a clean-up crew branch of the American military.

Prelude to inFamous story provided in comic form

Earlier today the first issue of the inFamous comic series was posted.  This will be provided leading up to the May 29th release of the video game. The seven page issue of the comic released by Sony has been graciously hosted by the people over at Joystiq. The story so far takes place prior to the events of the game. No word yet regarding how many other issues are going to be released of the comic.

First details on the multiplayer aspect of Bioshock 2

This generation it seems like if your game doesn’t have some sort of multiplayer or co-op mode then it’s a complete failure to the fans and reviewers will automatically dock points from the review score, even if having a multiplayer mode completely clashes with the core gameplay and theme of the game.
