BioWare lets us breathe easy with new Mass Effect trailer

Damnit BioWare! You know I love you, but you have a hell of a lot gumption toying with my emotions.

Sega attempts a fourth kart racing game

I’ve always been a fan of the Mario Kart games. If I’m being honest here I think I would need to say that overall it’s been my favourite racing series of all time.  Each incarnation has brought something unique and special to the table (even though I liked some less than others.  I’m looking at you Mario Kart Wii).

EA gives us another look at Saboteur (too bad it's CG part 2)

Over the past few weeks EA has been slowly pulling the curtain back on its upcoming WWII action game Saboteur. Now at this point most of us start to cringe when we hear about a new WWII game since the market was flooded with them for a long period of time but Saboteur is trying some really interesting things that will makes us want to take another journey to the old war.

The struggle continues in No More Heroes 2

Earlier this week we got our first info and images for the upcoming crazy fest that is No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. The info released by Famitsu definitely answered a lot of questions fans had concerning the story and it also gave us our first glimpse at a few new characters.

A new Dante's Inferno trailer (too bad it's CG)

Last night on the Gametrailers TV E3 special a brand new trailer for EA’s upcoming God of War clone Dante’s Inferno was shown. Since premiering on the Spike Video Game Awards last year the game has been somewhat light on the media front and what has been shown to the public has left many with a lukewarm reaction thus far.

Interstellar Marines is still alive.. and interesting

Back in 2006 four guys working out of a basement released a trailer for Interstellar Marines (my top pick for most generic action title ever!). Now 3 years later they have expanded and released a short teaser of their work in progress. This happens to look surprisingly decent. The trailer opens up showing a group of characters from the game lining up to take a group photo. It then takes a surrealist turn with wait for it... land-sharks.

Just Cause 2 is bringing crazy back

September 27th 2006 the Xbox 360 got one of its first open world third-person shooter; Just Cause. The game was the best showcase of the Xbox 360’s graphical upgrade over the previous consoles. But what it lacked in graphical power; it made up for in balls-out crazy over the top action.

Eyes-on impressions of TMNT: Turtles in Time HD and the TMNT 25th Anniversary tour bus

Last month the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles turned twenty-five years old. After starting out as a black & white comic book series aimed towards mature readers, the Turtles soon became a massive hit amongst youngsters in the late 80s with a popular cartoon and later a series of hit live-action movies. For some reason the TMNT franchise turning 25 makes me feel really old.

It's time for Dragonball: Evolution to invade your home

One of Shogun’s favorite movies to criticize and use an example of how not to make a good movie along with showcasing how Hollywood has become creatively bankrupt is soon coming out on Blu-ray and DVD as Dragonball: Evolution is slated to hit shelves in late July.

Brand new No More Heroes 2 details

Ever since its announcement trailer last year many have wondered what No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle would be about.  There was the small matter of how the sequel would be possible since the true ending of the game alluded to Travis and his brother Henry taking one another out in an epic battle on the streets of Santa Destroy.

THQ takes the war to the Homefront

Today THQ announced their latest project in the form of “Homefront” a FPS from Kaos Studios who were responsible for last years Frontlines: Fuel of War. But instead of being a game that is entirely a fictional romp that takes players to an alien planet or takes place during a past war Homefront actually combines a bit of realism in its story.  The basic premise of Homefront is that it’s the year 2027; the United States has suffered an economic collapse and is now occupied by North Korea.

Rockstar announces The Ballad of Gay Tony

Today Rockstar Games and Take-Two announced the latest episode of DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV in the form of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony which is once again exclusive to the Xbox 360. This latest chapter in the GTA universe finds players assuming the role of Luis Lopez. Now Luis isn’t a hardened biker like Johnny Kleibitz was and is instead a low level hoodlum who also works as an assistant for nightclub owner Tony Prince who is also known as “Gay Tony”.

The Press Release for the game describes the story as:

QuarterSave Podcast - Episode 03 - Demo Fueled!

This week Good Casey, Rob and I talk about the Kojima teaser site and ads. A whole bunch of demo goodness as this week sees the release of Red Faction Multiplayer Demo, and inFamous on the PS3.

Other stories of note the Gamer (movie) trailer, Fuel sets a world record for largest play area in a video game, and OnLive (Sega Channel) theories as they drop out of E3 showing for this year.

DJ Jaguar Skills gives us a video game mash-up

Last night on BBC Radio 1 mash-up master DJ Jaguar Skills took over things for awhile and as part of the on-going Radio 1 Big Gaming Weekend event he decided to give us something that doesn't suck like things had been shaping up so far. Instead DJ Jaguar Skills gave everyone one hell of a two hour program that had a bevy of popular tracks from Daft Punk, Ludacris, Jay-Z, LL Cool J and Jamiroquai mixed with 8-bit sound effects interspersed with actual songs from video games like Outrun, Parappa the Rapper and Mortal Kombat.

Girl builds real Katamari ball controller. I want one.

A very smart, very awesome girl named Kellbot who has a love for Katamari has made a prototype for what I consider to be the the ultimate Katamari controller. I really hope Namco sees this video and this controller is made in a retail market (dare to dream).

PixelJunk 1-4 is now a Shooter

Last month Q Games announced the latest chapter in the PixelJunk series with PixelJunk 1-4, a game where players control a capsule as it navigates through various caverns facing off against not only the numerous enemies that lurk in them but the various natural elements as they try to rescue allies. Obviously PixelJunk 1-4 isn't that catchy a title so Q Games decided to hold a contest in which users could submit a name, win some swag and be included in the credits for the game.

Tekken 6 to feature "ground-breaking online modes"

On the latest episode of the Major Nelson podcast Tekken brand manager Joon Wang teased that the upcoming Tekken 6 for the PS3/360 will feature “ground-breaking online modes.” Joon of course didn’t say what the modes will be or give any hints and merely said that more will be revealed at E3 next week.

Red Faction multiplayer demo is pure fun

A while back THQ launched a demo of the single player version of Red Faction: Guerrilla on the Xbox Live Market Place and the Playstation Network. Now two weeks before the games launch date they’ve been kind enough to give us a taste of one of the multiplayer modes in the game.

Primetime's first enterance: 1 vs 100 on XBLA

A few weeks ago Microsoft pulled a surprising switch, releasing 1 vs 100 beta to Canadian Xbox Live users. Canada is generally the last place to get to play games; betas are generally UK or US affair. That being said, I was obviously eager to jump in and try it out.

Unfortunately the majority of the episodes take place while I’m at work. Last week when I tried to get in on a Saturday showcase my internet went down for the two hours where the shows were airing. But finally this week I got in on two 1 vs 100 Extended Play sessions.
