The past two months have been extremely painful if you’re a PlayStation Vita owner since the offerings on the platform have been slim.  There’s always a post-launch dry spell, but for some reason it seems a bit tougher for the Vita seeing as how the system got off to a good start with the release of games such as Wipeout, Uncharted, and Lumines yet here we are with nothing to entice us.   Core Vita gamers have been doing their best to stay patient despite starving for goodness to keep them entertained.

Capcom has been on a roll lately when it comes to lightly trolling gamers, not only with the games that are produced by the company but the business decisions that are made as well. Far from being looked at as a once great warrior that has fallen, much like Konami is, Capcom is just making some weird moves that are a complete toss up when it comes to being viable financially and critically.

The woes of THQ continue in such a way that it’s only fitting for a soap opera.  So far 2012 hasn’t been kind at all to the maker of hits such as Saints Row: The Third as the failure of the uDraw peripheral on the HD platforms nearly sunk THQ.

Of all the would-be games that have been hinted at or have disappeared under mysterious circumstances I think Beyond Good & Evil 2 is the game people want to see the most.  There are certainly other games with a notable cult following that deserve a sequel, but Beyond Good & Evil is one of those rare games which in some ways surpassed its cult following moniker and could be something much bigger if the planets were to align properly.

Hideo Kojima is the type of guy who likes to tease people of impending goodness all the time.  When he’s not taking pictures of Spider-Man boxer shorts he recently bought, Kojima is best known for posting a bevy of teases on Twitter that sometimes pan out the way we want them to and sometimes fall short in such a way that Kojima should be the new Troll Face image.

Seeing as how the movie made a bazillion dollars in a mere week, Ubisoft and Marvel decided to let the cat out of the bag by announcing The Avengers: Battle For Earth.  Hinted at last weekend, Ubisoft is indeed making a game based on Earth’s mightiest heroes but there are a few surprises in store which could make the game either a mega hit or an unbearable disappointment in the eyes of gamers and comic book fans.

Trying to wrap my head around the video game industry can at times provide me with such a headache that I just want to sit down in a comfy chair, pop some pills, and have a nice cup of tea due to how infuriating and simply nonsensical the industry can be.  At this point it seems like certain studios have had more cancelled projects than what they actually shipped to retail, but such a thing can at times be attributed to the almost ever changing climate of the industry.

Those who enjoy watching biker gangs do battle against each other and can appreciate dramas ripe with family strife may enjoy this update concerning Sons of Anarchy.  Earlier this year Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter revealed via his Twitter account that he was meeting with publishers to discuss an in-depth browser based Sons of Anarchy video game.  

Dishonored To Launch Before Holiday Rush

Today we got a release date for Arkane Studios’ Dishonored and it looks like they’ll be trying to get in ahead of an already packed November.

The supernatural assassin title will hit North American shelves on October 9th. The more I see of this title, the more I wish I could get my hands on it now. If Assassin’s Creed and steam punk hooked up and birthed some sort of demonic sex child... it would basically amount to Dishonored.

There’s a generation of gamers out there who may have never heard or played a Wolfenstein game and that makes me feel quite old and depressed.  It’s fine for gamers to have Call of Duty as their #1 FPS game, but it’s always good to look back at what helped the FPS genre as things likely wouldn’t be where they are now if the team at id Software never created Wolfenstein in the first place.
