TMNT gets the remake treatment with Turtles in Time

After the release of Bionic Commando: Rearmed last year many gamers have been aching for HD remixes of classic games. Whether it’s Strider, Mega Man, Vector Man or other classic titles gamers out there would love to play some of their old favorites with shiny HD visuals while still retaining the core gameplay that makes them so good.

It seems to be that we’re in luck as another game is getting the HD remix treatment although it’s a game that we weren’t really expecting: a remake of the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game “Turtles in Time.”

At a recent event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the TMNT franchise (boy do I feel old) the new Turtles in Time remake was announced and shown off to the public for the first time.  Details are still scarce but it seems like it’s for XBLA only at this point (major let down for PS3 and Wii owners) and that the game seems to be a direct remake with a few changes in the boss department as the demo had Tokka and Rahzar in the place of Bebop and Rocksteady.

From the two photos that were taken of the game it certainly looks good and definitely has that BC: Rearmed vibe to it in terms of retaining the original games visual style yet updating it for modern times. Hopefully we’ll get more media for it at E3 next month and perhaps some sort of PSN announcement.

Yeah, I'll be getting that fo' sho'. The old Turtles games were some of the best beat'em'ups I ever played. Now if we could get the remake treatment on the Streets of Rage franchise that would be EPIC.
