Steven Spielberg's EA game is still happening

When it comes to film making Steven Spielberg is one of the best in the business. With an array of classics such as Jaws, Close Encounters, and Jurassic Park, the man clearly knows what he’s doing.  But when it comes to the world of video games his ventures haven’t been that successful. It’s not that Spielberg’s knack for creating unique stories and vistas hasn’t translated well into game concepts but for some reason or another they just haven’t seen the light of day yet.

So far out of Steven Spielberg’s exclusive deal with EA to create a series of games we’ve only seen one game released so far: the Wii exclusive Bloom Blox.  There have been several other Spielberg projects in development some of which have sadly fallen into development hell or have outright been cancelled.  But it seems like one Spielberg game will finally be released for gamers to enjoy if an EA employee’s resume is any indication.

In the past EA employee resumes have been on the mark so there’s really no dispute at this being inaccurate or a put-on of sorts.  The resume itself is for an EA Los Angeles employee who served as a writer, story editor and consultant on an Untitled Steven Spielberg game.  Obviously the details are still hazy on what the Spielberg game is but the resume lists it for a 2012 release so at least we have a possible date.

But still, this after all is a resume so for all we know the game could’ve been canned already. But if Spielberg’s game wasn’t given the boot what will it be? Even though nothing was never officially announced, it was revealed that there were two Spielberg games in development, one a sci-fi game featuring a human agent and an alien woman and the other being a WWII spy game.  Both games have a good chance of still seeing a future release but I wouldn’t be too surprised if EA and Spielberg decided to do something radically different such as a Kinetic exclusive. Whatever is still brewing at EA we probably won’t see anything for quite some time if the 2012 release still stands.
