Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Is Filled With Epic Bosses, Tiny Critters and Snarky Robots [Video]

It’s odd to imagine that a new Ratchet & Clank game is coming out next month but such a thing is actually happening.  We may have last seen Ratchet & Clank two years ago in the rather terrific R&C: A Crack in Time but now the duo are back with a few friends and enemies in tow with the multiplayer centric Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

Ever since Sony and series developer Insomniac Games announced All 4 One there has been a somewhat mixed reaction as to whether the game was truly needed.  Longtime series fans were generally satisfied with the ending of A Crack in Time as it put a nice bow on the series so in some ways gamers were looking at All 4 One as being a bit unnecessary. But after taking a gander at this new single-player trailer, I think longtime R&C fans may feel compelled to hop into All 4 One and experience the comedy and action the game has to offer.

In the last few months we’ve seen a nice mix of footage from All 4 One but this new trailer highlights a few specific stages – some of which may or may not have giant robot bosses.  I’ve said it in the past, but despite staying true to the core R&C formula, I am more impressed with All 4 One now than I have in the past.  Playing the game at E3 this year I wasn’t exactly blown away by it, but the footage in this new trailer shows a lot more character than what the E3 demo featured – which honestly could’ve been in any of the previous three R&C games.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One may not give us the new definitive R&C experience but it does look to provide the same trademark humor the franchise is known for along with another round of gorgeous visuals.  I still don’t know if All 4 One is the way the series should end if Insomniac does indeed wash their hands of their existing franchise to focus on new IP, but I guess we’ll all find out for ourselves when it arrives on October 18th.
