A little while back there was some talk of Activision head Bobby Kotick talking about subscription services for Call of Duty. While the original quote had him wishing that he could charge for the game “tomorrow” everyone believed that it was something that would have to wait to be implemented into future titles (potentially the MMO they’d talked about in the past). However, a new video was posted today which may hint at the possibility of the subscription feature of Call of Duty coming a lot sooner than we all expected.
The video (below) showcases a couple of friends trying to meet up online for a game of Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360. However, when one of the players tries to connect to the game, they get a prompt from the Xbox Marketplace for a “Modern Warfare 2 Membershi.” If the video is legitimate that could mean that publisher Activision and spawn of Satan Bobby Kotick could be going full-on with their subscription plan for Call of Duty not only more quickly than expected, but a full 8 months into the release of the title.
Obviously this is something I’ll be keeping an ear on for the next little while as it affects me directly, so be sure to stay tuned for any breaking news we receive about Call of Duty and its potential subscription.
fuck them if we have to pay. The game is bad enough anyway, but paying for it? I ain't stupid, I already play 50 bucks a year for live, and 60 a year for the new cod, what makes Activision think they can do this... oh wait,

Oh wow. This will be really interesting if it's legit...
I wonder if it will affect the price of the game itself eventually. If someone buys the game and have no intention of paying the MP then you just have a single player experience to look forward to thus doesn't this devalue the whole game itself
That's a relief :)

EPIC FAIL if it happens as tbh as much as i love CoD,Bobby just wants to make more money, period.I wont be surprised to see this coming, just count me out day one.
