Every once and awhile a game comes along that leaves the jaws of many on the floor. This is usually because the game play, presentation, story and visuals are unlike any we’ve seen before. Games like Devil May Cry, GodHand and No More Heroes are a few examples of games that feature some of the craziest crap we’ve ever seen in a game before.
The latest game which could end up as being the champion of craziness in a videogame is Bayonetta, the latest game from Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya. Hideki is a man who certainly knows how to take things to the next level and in Bayonetta everything is x100. We’ve all seen the previous Bayonetta trailers which have of course played on the sex appeal of the lovely Bayonetta and have shown off some of the crazy moves that she can perform such as summoning a guillotine to finish off enemies and her special ability of using her magically imbued hair to summon creatures. Well in the latest trailer for the game we get to see a lot more of that as well as some new levels.
The one standout moment for me in the latest trailer is when Bayonetta flips the bird and then proceeds to use it to start up her motorcycle. This moment has already become a favorite for many anticipating the game and you can see it below in gif form. The game also seems to be doing some interesting things with the levels with the aforementioned motorcycle segment and there is also a quick glimpse of a scene in which Bayonetta is jumping from falling freight containers in the sky. Add moments like those to a scene where Bayonetta does her magic hair trick and summons a DMC looking spider like creature and you’re perhaps looking at the craziest game to come out this year.
The game doesn’t seem to be all flash though as this trailer and the previous ones continue to show the interesting combat system with this trailer showing off a move in which it seems like Bayonetta can freeze or slow down time to do a quick attack on the enemy. Sure it’s nothing new to the action genre but it certainly looks cool and I’m sure there’s more to it than what’s shown in the trailer.
So far Bayonetta is shaping up to be an enjoyable and memorable action game in a year where there don’t seem to be many since we’re still a year out from God of War 3. Though I am a bit afraid at the fan-fiction that may ensue from the game which will surely involve sordid lesbian action between Bayonetta and her blonde hair friend.
