The cycle continues as the latest popular video game destined to become a major motion picture is EA’s sci-fi horror game “Dead Space”. This project seems to be a bit farther along than EA’s other film ventures such as “Army of Two”, “Dante’s Inferno”, and “The Sims” as a director has already been attached to the project. D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) will be directing the film and this won’t be his first time working on a video game project as he is also directing the Masi Oka MMO adventure film “Defender.”
At this stage Caruso and EA are listening to pitches from writers and once a script has been selected the film will be shopped around to studios to see who’s interested. It’ll be interesting to see what type of script is chosen or what direction Caruso and EA want to take with the project. The Dead Space game was a bit light on direct story elements, aside from reading files and things of that sort, so perhaps the film version would flesh things out if it would be a retelling of the game. Or we could end up with a side story or prequel, similar to the upcoming “Dead Space: Extraction” for the Nintendo Wii.
Caruso is an average director so the film shouldn’t entirely be a mess but of course I’m sure the creative team will find a way to screw things up somehow. Maybe it’s just me but am I the only one thinking Shia Labeouf will be cast as the lead due to working with Caruso twice in the past?

Well the animated prequel sucked so I have lil hope for what's next to come unless it's Dead Space 2, game not movie
Unlike you JD I liked the animie. It showed what happened on the ship before all hell brakes loose on it. If they do the movie I hope they do it just like the game and just flesh out some of the stuff we read or heard through the logs.
Corey Rollins: i didnt know there are voice anime books of this game on PSN. ill check that out. thanks.
I sort of feel bad for saying this. but i still didnt play the game.
However i did buy the game, as a birthday gift for a friend. i sort of feel like getting in now.
Yeah they are free, def go check them out!
Those animie books are really good and you should check then out.
You know what would be really cool, if Issac didn't talk throughout the whole movie just like in the game. Then at least we know Hollywood stayed true to the game
Yeah he should totally mime it. besides in space no one can hear you scream, so I assume talking is out of the question anyways. lol

This could make a pretty cool movie. I even enjoyed the voiced anime books you could download off the PSN etc. Hopefully this movie won't contain Shia Labeouf LOL.
