Interesting things could be afoot in Dead Space 3 as per yet another supposed script/plot leak for the title. While the project has yet to be formally announced by EA and Visceral Games, at least in the way of game details etc., a mole within EA has shared some details on what’s in store for Isaac Clarke. Late last month we received word that Dead Space 3 would see Isaac on a snow covered planet with a Necromorph Hivemind in addition to two female protagonists, one of which was a returning character from Dead Space 2. But now it seems that Isaac may have another companion in Dead Space 3 and it may be a bit twisted.
As per Siliconera’s source, Dead Space 3 will supposedly see Isaac accompanied by none other than Shadow Isaac, a newly developed split personality. I guess all of the trauma Isaac has gone through has caught up to him since he has a split personality that taunts him at nearly every possible chance. Shadow Isaac has been described as being a flat out sarcastic bastard which will lead to Isaac essentially arguing with himself. So if you didn’t like Isaac’s newfound ability to speak in Dead Space 2 then you better strap in since Isaac will be more vocal x2 in Dead Space 3.
Shadow Isaac will reportedly be represented as a second character on-screen as opposed to a quick hallucination at specific moments. Exactly how often Shadow Isaac will be seen in Dead Space 3 wasn’t mentioned so we could be in for something vastly different compared to the last two titles in the franchise. The news of Shadow Isaac is interesting since it could work wonderfully from a dramatic perspective or possibly ruin any sort of tension that’s to be had in the game. Seeing Isaac go into epic quip battle mode could very well bring another layer of dimension to the narrative and expand Isaac as a character but hasn’t Dead Space always been about things being silent and then the shit suddenly hitting the fan? Having another character constantly issue remarks may just become tiresome over time and in a way it does sound somewhat familiar to what we’ve seen in the past, notably in F.E.A.R. 3.
It wasn’t mentioned if the arrival of Shadow Isaac would present any possible co-op scenarios for Dead Space 3, but I wouldn’t be surprised if such a thing is done whether it’s in the main campaign or DLC. Some gamers have been clamoring for Visceral Games to add co-op to Dead Space and now with the news of two core female characters being added in the game + this Shadow Isaac tidbit we could finally have some co-op action for better or worse.
Based on this sudden surge of Dead Space 3 details it’s all but assured that we’re going to get some details on the game soon, possibly before the end of the year. Either that or leaks on the game will continue and we’ll just end up knowing the core plot of Dead Space 3 before EA officially announces the project.
So what’s your take on Shadow Isaac? Is this going to be a cool addition to Dead Space or simply something that could ruin the game?

Gameplay-wise i won't mind, but as a concept the shadow thing has been done to death, especially considering how extremely rare split personality disorders are in real life.
