Capcom announces Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for the PSP

Last month’s rumors have panned out and Monster Hunter is indeed making a return to the PSP. Titled Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, the game is not a direct port of the upcoming Wii game Monster Hunter 3. Instead, MH Portable 3rd (awesome name btw) will feature moves and monsters from MH3 along with new additions to keep things fresh.

From the screens and trailer Capcom released, MH Portable 3rd looks to be the Monster Hunter that fans love. Massive beasts, cute cats wearing armor (I sense a new cat meme coming up) and guys wielding massive swords while wearing Raiden style hats all look awesome. The game also looks rather gorgeous on the PSP, something which is no doubt a combination of Capcom’s graphical prowess and amazing art design.

A firm release date for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd wasn’t revealed, but previous reports pointed to a late 2010 release in Japan. As always, it’s unconfirmed at this point if the game will be released outside of Japan. But using my video game sightseeing abilities I foresee a Monster Hunter appearance during Sony’s PSP montage presentation at E3. Hopefully that happens and I won’t look like a complete fool.

The last MH game for the PSP is still not even that old. Why make a new one so soon. They should have made a new MH for the 360.
