Bootleg footage from The Expendables

Despite advanced effects and massive budgets most action movies today seem to be missing that extra something special that ties everything together in a nice package of awesomeness.  But next August we could have a movie that not only gives us an action movie that harkens back to the good old days of 80s action movies but could ultimately be the best American action movie ever released.

“The Expendables” comes from action legend Sylvester Stallone who is once again doing the double duty of writing & directing the project. The film tells the standard tale of a group of soldiers dubbed The Expendables as they try to take down a South American dictator while dealing with other shady enemies, some of which used to be former Expendable members.  The plot itself is nothing to write home about but it does have some promise due to the straightforward nature of things and the various personalities of the Expendables which include characters “Hale Caesar” played by Terry Crews.

But what will ultimately put the movie over-the-top is the cast which reads like a fan list put together in a forum.  Without a doubt this is the closet thing to perfect we’ll ever get out of an action movie cast.

If that cast wasn’t perfect enough it has been confirmed that Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger will have cameos and share the screen with Sylvester for the first time ever.

The footage below from the film doesn’t look that sharp since it’s a bootleg but it still gives you a sense of what sort of direction the film is going for.  It may not look groundbreaking but seeing all of these action stars and badass dudes’ team up is worth the price of admission alone.
 
“The Expendables” is currently set for an August 22, 2010 release and the rating for the film has yet to be determined.
