With principle photography kicking off this week on Resident Evil: Retribution, the cast for the film has officially been locked down. Previously we received confirmation that actor Johann Urb would be portraying Leon S. Kennedy and well-known character actor Kevin Durand would be playing fan-favorite Barry Burton. The only remaining role was that of the mysterious double-crosser/sometimes ally Ada Wong. Yes, Resident Evil: Retribution is going to be rather packed with both new characters appearing along with several old faces returning – some of whom were previously dead.
Thanks to the always informative Milla Jovovich, the actress responsible for bringing Ada Wong to life has been revealed. Chinese actress Li Bingbing will be portraying Ada Wong in Resident Evil: Retribution and no, it hasn’t been revealed if at some point she’ll don a tight red dress and kill zombies. A veteran of the Chinese film industry, Li may be recognizable to fans of Chinese action films as she last appeared in the Andy Lau film “Detective Dee”. But American audiences may recognize Li as that crazy woman with the white hair from the Jackie Chan/Jet Li film “The Forbidden Kingdom”.
Li seems like a pretty good fit for Ada and it’s nice that the creative team went for a somewhat unfamiliar face instead of just going for Kelly Hu or something along those lines. I was somewhat right in my assumption (see my RE: Retribution casting call) that the creative team would opt for a well-known Chinese actress to portray Ada to appeal to the international audience. So far Milla hasn’t Tweeted any images from the set of RE: Retribution or any of the cast so it’ll likely be a while before we see what Ada looks like in the film.
So what say you about the casting of Li Bingbing as Ada Wong? Does she seem like a good fit or will we just have to wait and see until some media is release for the flick?

Not bad,def good that theyre not getting some hot shot actress that cant act(Hello transformers),im really pumped for this film.
