Without a doubt Bioshock 2 is one of next year’s most anticipated games and to get the hype going even more publisher 2K Games announced today the details for the Special Edition version of the game.
The SE for the first Bioshock was pretty cool as it featured standard things like a making-of DVD and it even had a few music tracks courtesy of Moby. But what really sold many on the package was the Big Daddy figurine that came with it. If the Big Daddy figure sold you on that SE wait until you hear what’s in store for us with the Bioshock 2 SE.
This time 2K is really taking things to the next level as the Bioshock 2 SE will come in a 13”x13” box which has art unique only to the SE. Once you open up the box you’ll be graced with a 180g LP that has the soundtrack from the first Bioshock, a CD with the score from Bioshock 2, a 164-page artbook and you’ll also get some vintage style Rapture poster ads.
Now 2K isn’t really pulling an Activision with this SE and won’t be charging gamers $150 as the Bioshock 2 Special Edition will retail for $99 on the PS3/360 and $89 on PC. If you ask me that’s one hell of a bargain especially since the Special Edition is limited to only one production run. So once they’re gone you’re going to try your luck with eBay if you want to get one.

Petty bad ass collectors edition, but I have to agree with Sith above. Unless it's something I'm a huge long time fan over...I think I gotta pass on the special editions for now.

at least with for the $150 they was giving you night vision goggles as for this SE, I say nay. Fancy box, usual artbook, posters doesnt do it for me. As for the LP, how many people will be actually have a turntable to play it on? Maybe Corey can put on his turntable and put out some Bioshock remixes. Scratch that shit! Personally I'm through with the SE/CE versions scene. I rather take that extra money I would save on purchasing a SE and invest it to buy actual in-game DLC.
