Mortal Kombat's history is one built on controversy. At the very dawn of violent video games, it was hassled by all kinds of concerned parties for its use of blood, violence, and inclusion of features like the Fatalities. Of course, we've come a long way since then. Games these days are far, far worse than what we were so concerned about back then... so Mortal Kombat itself needs to keep upping the ante.
Today a video started circulating a lot of gaming news sites/blogs showcasing one particular Fatality from the upcoming current-gen sequel to the franchise reboot, Mortal Kombat X. It features a relatively underplayed character, Ermac, disembowelling another player with the power of his mind.
Honestly, I don't think this is that terrible? I mean, it gets points for pulling the internal organs out towards the camera for sure, but it doesn't feel so jarring that the internet would shut down. Either way, it is definitely a move that highlights the grim violence of the modern Mortal Kombat, so I guess just be aware of what you're clicking on before you hit play?
