One of the biggest, and most welcomed, surprises of last year's E3 reveals was the upcoming continuation of the Rainbow Six franchise, Siege. I say "biggest surprise" not because no one saw a sequel coming from the franchise, but because it was something unlike anything from the series past. It's a game that seems to focus on multiplayer co-operation in the vein of 2015's early starter Evolve. The difference being that instead of 4-vs-1 we're dealing with equal odds and it's more of a "cops and robbers" scenario then it is an interpretation of the mood of the first Predator film.
The idea of planning out intrusion missions, stacking your team up, and then executing on your carefully considered extraction plan for hostages (or whatever other missions the game ends up offering) is something that had me positively giddy during the Ubisoft Conference last year.
Well, if you're as excited about the premise and gameplay of Siege as I am then there's some good news today out of Camp Ubisoft (assuming you're also a PC gamer).
Siege is looking for Alpha testers, so if you want to get the earliest of sneak peeks at the Rainbow Six story departure then head on over to the site to sign up. I should mention though, there are some PC requirements you'll need to meet or exceed; though they don't look that taxing for someone with a hobbyist PC gaming background:
Minimum PC requirements:
OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, x64
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core
CPU Speed: 3.3 GHz (Recommended), 2.6 GHz (Minimum)
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 / R9 280 X
VRAM: 2 GB
"Note: These specs are the ones required for alpha testing and are not the final PC specs. We are still working on optimizing the game and the launch specs will be lower than the alpha specs."
