Injustice: Gods Among Us Receives Battle Edition (Big CE) and Release Date Revealed

At this point there may be so many games coming out in the first half of 2013 that it’s hard to keep track of which games should immediately join our collection and which should receive the Gamefly/Redbox treatment.  Choosing between a dozen games may be a tough thing to do for gamers with less than deep pockets, but fans of fighting games are likely going to go all in for Injustice: Gods Among Us and the rather massive special edition SKU that will be released alongside the game.

We already know that Injustice is going to have a rather nice looking Collector’s Edition, both for NA and EU, that features a statue which survived the scrutiny of comic book fans alongside other supplemental content such as bonus skins.  One CE may be good enough for most of us, but WB Games is going all in with Injustice by the reveal of Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition.

Set to be an exclusive at Gamestop/EB Games stores in North America, the Injustice Battle Edition won’t feature more statues or action figures as the key attraction is a massive fight stick.  Featuring art of Injustice characters such as Batman and Superman, the fight stick looks nice and it appears to be on par with the reputable fight sticks that those who attend EVO tend to favor. Even sans a “hidden” compartment to hide your personal stash as the Mortal Kombat stick did, I’m always open to more arcade stick goodness - even if the price is a tad high.

WB didn’t reveal which company is manufacturing the Injustice fight stick, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine that PDP is handling it seeing as how they designed and manufactured the exceptional retro infused MK arcade pad.  Other than the addition of a fight stick, the Injustice Battle Edition will feature three bonus skins for Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman.

The $149 price tag of the Battle Edition may be a bit much for most of us, but for the core fighting game community it’s likely nothing given the intense fandom that’s often present in that community.

Best of all WB Games revealed that Injustice will be released on April 16, 2013 on the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.  With a release date now locked, and likely not open to slipping at all, we probably will receive more consistent character reveals for Injustice; or at least I hope for such a thing. It’s kind of odd that more character reveals haven’t been made lately other than the arrival of Lex Luthor and Bane, both of whom were revealed in the latest issue of GAME magazine with little to no fanfare.
