Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2 Pics Show Kitana and Shang Tsung

It may not officially be Fatality Friday since there isn’t a new Mortal Kombat game or a well-polished trailer showing some brutal yet entertaining combat. Even then, the Fatality Friday moniker is rather fitting for today considering we have additional character glimpses for the upcoming second season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

In the off chance that you’ve been buried deep in half a dozen video games and haven’t paid attention to the latest news and/or MK developments, a second season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy is underway with some relatively major changes in the cast department. You can check out our previous reports on those matters, but aside from that the hype levels are beginning to reach critical mass based on the small set pics we’ve received from series director Kevin Tancharoen.

After giving us a small yet rather tantalizing look at Liu Kang and Kung Lao, Kevin has Tweeted some new images showing Princess Kitana and the always formidable Shang Tsung. Sadly we don’t have a set pic showing actress Sam Tjhia in her full Kitana get-up, but Kevin has released an image showing what is presumably the main combat costume for the character.

Far less risqué than what we’ve been accustomed to in the MK games, Kitana’s costume retains the blue the character is known for in addition to adapting that into an outfit worthy of a skilled Kunoichi, deadly fan blades and all.

We do have a more revealing season 2 tease via Kevin in the form of actor Cary Tagawa once again portraying the sorcerer that is Shang Tsung.  When it was announced that Cary was set to return to the world of MK I think that nearly cemented season 2 as a hit amongst hardcore fans and now they’re likely doing double black flips upon seeing this first glimpse of Cary in the project.

Sadly sans a completely boss leather jacket, the look of Shang Tsung seems to be scaled back as the character’s wardrobe seems to only consist of a simple black get-up, somewhat mirroring what the villainous Han wore in “Enter The Dragon“.

Even if Shang Tsung may not have a more fantastical or “defined” look within the season, the character will certainly be amazing due to the sheer aura of Cary. Seriously, the dude is Shang Tsung and I think he’ll once again deliver a killer performance. Now if only Christopher Lambert can return to portray the thunder god that is Raiden so the badass nostaglia trip can be fully completed in S2 of MK: Legacy.
