Sony Releases New Live-Action PS All-Stars Video

For the past few days Sony has been teasing the release of a special video and of course that led to the one thing the internet and gaming communities love to do: speculate.  There’s nothing wrong with some logical speculation, but when a tease of a video is made through actual clips and somehow people correlate that to being a new Infamous game, IP reveal, or even a next-gen PlayStation tease then I can’t help but shake my head.  As expected, the reveal Sony was teasing was for a new live-action tie-in video for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Presented to us in the same style as the “Michael” commercial that wowed us last year, we once again see a few selected video game characters brought to life via the wonder of live-action.  This meeting of PlayStation icons of course results in a bit of battling to hammer down the theme and connection to PS All-Stars, a thing which I don’t mind since the game could use a bit of proper promotion.

A bit shorter than the “Michael” video, this PS All-Stars commercial features only a few characters such as Nathan Drake and Sackboy but the action is amped up in a convincing way.  The production values and overall cool factor may not be on the same level as longer things such as MK: Legacy or even Halo: Forward Unto Dawn, but it’s nice to see Sony branch out a bit and deliver something that isn’t laughable and more importantly works as a good promoting tool.

It’s unknown if Sony will release any more live-action videos in the future, but this latest release is likely a one-shot.  I know it would’ve been nice to see some more PlayStation characters appear in the trailer rather than be teased such as Sweet Tooth, but the appearance of a Sackboy that was done via practical effects makes this PS All-Stars video awesome in my book.
