The First GTAV Viral Site Is Finally Launched

GTAV is still enigmatic as always, more so after Take Two’s investors call yesterday which featured the usual amount of question dodging.  Rockstar is no doubt tirelessly working away on GTAV to wow us soon, but when will we see something for the game, whether it’s a brilliantly crafted trailer or a mere screenshot? Rockstar did give us a small tease with some new screenshots, but when will the traditional hype machine begin for the game?

We may still be a ways off from GTAV being released (no, it’s not going to happen this year), but Rockstar has seemingly launched the first viral/marketing site for the game.  If you want to explore deep thoughts about the world and see new wave religion then you may want to head over to the Epsilon Program, a site that analyzes life and in a way may clear the mind of those who look at it. Ok, so the Epsilon Program won’t make a deep impact of any kind as it’s essentially a parody of silly new wave religions/feel good nonsense and all together may be a not so subtle jab towards scientology.

Gazing upon the Epsilon Program doesn’t reveal any major hints about GTAV, at least for now, but it does give us our first taste of the humor and vibe Rockstar is aiming for. Based on the general direction of the site and its accompanying Twitter account, Rockstar seems to be in top form once again on the humor front.

Maybe it’s just me but looking at the 12 Tenets of Kifflom for the Epsilon Program such as “The world is 157 years old - FACT!”, and “Aliens exist and are present on earth. If you have a birth mark, you may be descended from Kraff, the famous Emperor of the 4th Paradigm” did tickle my funny bones in all the right ways.

So there you have it, we have our first teaser site for GTAV and it’s pretty damn awesome so far.  Rockstar may not be tackling new ground with the Epsilon Program, but the general themes of it are a ripe source for comedic material if executed properly.  It’s unknown if we can expect any major updates to come out of The Epsilon Program, but I would definitely suggest you follow the Twitter account for potential teases or at least to see what comedy ensues – especially if Lazlow is lending a hand in this little project.

Who knows what the launch of the Epsilon Program will mean for more GTAV reveals in the coming weeks, but it could be possible this is all leading up to the traditional October media reveal cycle just like we had with L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3.
