Halo: Forward Unto Dawn Episode 4 Is Now Available

At long last the intense sci-fi action the Halo series is known to provide is present in Forward Unto Dawn. After the shocking turn of events in episode 3 which could’ve used a Drowning Pool song as background/end credits music, the latest episode of Forward Unto Dawn picks up and officially puts the action in overdrive mode.

Killzone Indie Film To Debut Next Week

Sony may be ever so slightly dipping their toes into the live-action arena when it comes to promoting their games or merely expanding existing franchises, but they’re still a step behind the competition.  Things such as the Michael/PlayStation All-Stars videos are a good effort, though in the long run they’re not as effective or downright cool compared to things such as Halo: Forward Unto Dawn.

Mass Effect Movie Gets New Writer, Still Not Close To Entering Production

In a sign that the project is somewhat moving along instead of being forever trapped within the nothingness that is a black hole, the Mass Effect movie now has a new screenwriter attached.  Announced several years ago with production company Legendary Films (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) handling the core duties, the Mass Effect movie could’ve provided us with some amazing sci-fi in the movie arena, but as always development woes were abound.

Konami Unveils Amazing Premium Packages For Metal Gear Rising

It’s always interesting to see how a publisher will not only market a game in the Western and Eastern markets, but to see what sort of specialty SKU they’ll release as well.  At this point gamers in the West are used to seeing sometimes sophisticated premium packages released in Japan that are amazing in every way and easily justify the high price tags that are attached.

God of War: Ascension Multiplayer Beta To Kick Off Next Month + New Video

You wouldn’t think that’s such a thing is happening due to the lack of hype thus far, but a new God of War game is coming out five months from now.  Not a direct continuation of God of War III, Sony Santa Monica is nonetheless continuing the tale of sorrow, bloodshed, and anger in God of War: Ascension.  So far we’ve seen what the game has to offer in a brief single-player snippet and today we have more footage showcasing the new and somewhat controversial multiplayer mode.

Sony Releases New Live-Action PS All-Stars Video

For the past few days Sony has been teasing the release of a special video and of course that led to the one thing the internet and gaming communities love to do: speculate.  There’s nothing wrong with some logical speculation, but when a tease of a video is made through actual clips and somehow people correlate that to being a new Infamous game, IP reveal, or even a next-gen PlayStation tease then I can’t help but shake my head.  As expected, the reveal Sony was teasing was for a new live-action tie-in video for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Wii U Burger King Toys Revealed - Disappointment Incoming

Most video-game cross-over/tie-in promotions tend to result in utter disappointment and that is certainly true of Burger King’s promotion of the Wii U.  If you recall it was revealed, albeit in a stealth like fashion, that the home of the Whopper would receive a slew of toys connected to the Wii U.

Ubisoft Teams Up With New Regency For Assassin's Creed Movie

Ubisoft is making its own fate and in the process could buck the trend of what has come before it. After announcing their plans to create a new label to focus on developing their properties into films and television shows, Ubisoft dropped the bomb on us that none other than Michael Fassbender would be starring and co-producer the film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed. This was of course after news surfaced which has Ubisoft in a near unprecedented deal which gave them sole creative control on the endeavor.

Darksiders Co-Creator/Creative Director Departs THQ

Darksiders co-creator and Vigil Games Creative Director Joe Madureira has announced his departure from THQ.  Best known for his work in comic books over the years, Joe transitioned to the world of video games with great success thanks to the Darksiders series.  Providing the same art style Joe was known for, the Darksiders series presented gamers with a nice mixture of old-school action/adventure gaming but now such a thing may be a thing of the past due to this new development.

Code of Princess [Review]

Overall Feeling:

Code of Princess tries very hard to recapture the spirit and charm of its spiritual predecessor, Guardian Heroes, but ultimately fails to provide the same fast-paced, tight experience that it tries to emulate. There are rumblings of a greater game underneath the sluggish, frustrating combat that Code of Princess provides, but these never quite resonate, and remain buried under poor design choices.

The Pros:

+ Fun, quirky characters

+ Robust combat system with a lot of room for personalized combos

The Cons:

- Action feels sluggish and unrewarding

- Grinding is necessary to come close to scratching the game’s harder encounters

- Visuals are stunning up close, but drop in quality drastically when more than three enemies appear on-screen

ShogunGamer.com Rating :

A legacy is a double-edged sword. For a game with a great legacy, there’s a good chance that gamers will be into your concept based solely on a name drop. Conversely, if your game isn’t a worthy successor to a beloved classic, chances are it’ll get more flak than a bomber flying over France circa WWII.
