[Video] New details on Halo: Reach in commentary video

If you're interested in the latest breaking details of Halo: Reach or wish Ken Burns did a signature photo sliding documentary on the covenant war, you're in much luck. Bungie just released 7 minutes in heaven (6:45 technically) with creative director Marcus Lehto on the upcoming killer Xbox 360 app.

Details on new collector's edition of Splinter Cell: Conviction

Well, we've all known for a month (..or 30 seconds if you're just learning) that the game many critics say will 110% win Game of the Year 2010 [citation needed] Splinter Cell: Conviction is getting the collector's edition treatment (of the ho hum variety) in North America.

[Review] Assassin's Creed II

Overall Feeling:
For the most part it's a fun game jumping from rooftop to rooftop assassinating fools that could've used a lot more polish.
The Pros:
Parkour actions are pretty solid. Duel wrist blades are rad. A lot of detail went into the look of the cities.
The Cons:
Story which tries its best to not let you in on it. Really poor level design in some places.

Must see trailer for ingame anime in The Ballad of Gay Tony

One of the sometimes overlooked main characters in the GTA series has always been the expertly conceived and perfectly executed radio stations complete with hilarious 'commercials' and talk radio. Rockstar is basically the Nobuo Uematsu of game soundtracks involving licensed music. With GTA IV and the inclusion of ingame television and internet (though the authenticity was lacking..

Assassin's Creed II - now with 'a bit of sex'!

Speaking about Assassin's Creed II (or ACII for those of us in the know) for a second. It certainly looks amazing with the double stiletto stabs, rad Venetian masks and such, but there is one gripe I have with it. One that I'll often get into long discussions to with anyone that will listen (and after restraining orders were filed by them, random people I call in the phone book who ask questions like 'what's an Xbot?'). And that one thing is that the game isn't sexy enough.

Find out if Red Faction: Guerrilla is worth taking a trip to Mars

Overall Feeling:
Red Faction: Guerrilla features impressive explosions and tech but it's a matter of too much too soon. The entertainment of blowing crap up fades fast and it doesn't help that many of the missions are bland and repetitive.
The Pros:
The GeoMod tech is quite solid and shows off some amazing destruction. Suprisingly the multi-player modes are a blast to play and feature a lot of depth and require teamwork in some cases.
The Cons:
The missions are a bit dull and Mars is lacking an atmosphere. While no one is expecting a masterpiece the story of RFG leaves a lot to be desired.

Most open world games seem to stick to familiar places like New York, Los Angeles, and occasionally go to “exotic” locales like Barcelona and South America. It’s somewhat odd that after the release of GTA 3 in 2003 that we haven’t seen any open world games take players some place different like an entirely different planet. Red Faction: Guerrilla does exactly that and it gives players’ full reign to cause madness on the red planet that is Mars.

Burnout Paradise: Big Surf Island

Overall Feeling:
Big Surf Island is a welcomed addition to the world of Burnout and has some of the most insane jumps in the game. The content you get for such a low price is a steal and for those who haven't played the game in a long time it certainly is the right time to jump back in.
The Pros:
The Mega Jumps in the game are some of the best in the series and the new races will keep people busy not only for the Trophies/Achievements but for the new license you can get.
The Cons:
Honestly there's nothing wrong with this DLC. Just minor things like it still being a tad difficult to drive at night and perhaps the AI being a bit too strong but those aren't game ruining issues.

When it comes to DLC for racing games the results can be a bit iffy. Usually gamers are lucky if they get a few new liveries and vehicles and it’s a godsend if new tracks are released.  But one example of how to properly support a racing game through DLC lies with Criterion and what they’ve done with Burnout Paradise. After being on the market for over a year Criterion has continued to add content to Burnout that is actually worth it and isn’t just superficial.

Bionic Commando: a decent way to spend a couple hours

Overall Feeling:
Simple, solid, fun. The game is short and sweet, and handles well. But the steep learning curve might put a lot of people off. You'll need to be willing to invest at least an hour or two to get the -swing- of things.
The Pros:
Better than average first person shooter. Easy achievements/trophies. Rewarding swing mechanic.
The Cons:
Steep learning curve. Linear game play. Terrible story.

Alright, so this review is a bit behind. To be honest I’ve been struggling to catch up on games of recent. I found myself with a plethora of games sat beside my TV and wasn’t exactly sure where to go first. But after playing around with a few games I decided to push through Bionic Commando.

Max Payne Is Back and He Needs A Shave

Today Rockstar Games officially announced the somewhat announced/quasi rumored Max Payne 3 which is set for a winter release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. While the game was announced in 2004 via a Take-Two executive not much has been known since then other than that Remedy, the original developer for the first two Max Payne installments, would not be handling development duties since they’re busy with the long in development 360 exclusive Alan Wake. Instead development duties will be handled by Rockstar Vancouver.
