Fight Night Round 4

Fight Night Round 4 Review - Does this heavyweight stack up to the hype?

Overall Feeling:
A fantastic game that everyone should check out. If you mastered the total punch control system from Fight Night Round 3, go buy this game now because you will love the huge realistic gameplay improvements in Round 4. However, if you enjoyed button mashing your way to victory using the face buttons, you may be bitter about this years sweet science simulator despite it's amazing graphics and gameplay.
The Pros:
Amazing graphics paired with incredible real time physics deliver a visual experience that needs to be seen to believe. A fantastic "Create a Boxer" tool gives you the ability to create, share and download new boxers which can then be imported into the well built "legacy mode". The game also has a great sound track (for the most part) that makes you want to punch someone in the face and watch it over and over in slow motion. Also, there have been huge improvements to the fighting system that boxing fans will love.
The Cons:
Unforgivable loading times when changing appearance settings within the Create a Boxer mode. I'm positive some of the load times seen in this game are just barley meeting SCEA and Microsoft development standards. Also, Those who don't understand that Boxing is not about brute force and expect to spam wild haymakers like FNR3, you may not like this game due to some of the changes. Missing appearances from some big name fighters like Oscar De la Hoya and Evander Holyfield are likely do to legal issues, but still cause disappointment.

Fight Night Round 3 was released in December of 2006 and set the bar for boxing games. Amazing cinematic graphics and intuitive game play made this a classic must own title for boxing and fight fans everywhere. Sure, the game play was a little stiff, and the wall between the fighters seemed a bit corny, but it was still the greatest boxing game to have ever been made. In fact, I have continued to play this game regularly with friends at work for the past 3 years since it's release. So the real question is, does Fight Night Round 4 stack up and improve on the last one?
