Fatal Frame’s Lost Decade

2005 was a very different landscape for horror games; Resident Evil 4 had only been released that year and exclusively on Gamecube, the now ubiquitous 'over-the-shoulder' view was fresh and new, the emergence of J-horror films in the western market revitalized the genre for a few years, and the cult-classic horror game franchise Fatal Frame would see it's last North American release for an entire decade. It's been a long ten years for a franchise that was held by fans in the same regard as heavy hitters Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

Before Mario Maker

Mario Maker is fast approaching and I can feel the need to create swelling in the collective unconscious. The glorious content machine will roll out level after level and we will never go hungry again as we consume every perfect morsel.

Until that day of reckoning is upon us, here's a few under-appreciate and/or lesser-known level editors that have been helping players thirsty for more flex their creative muscles for the last couple decades.

What I wanted to see at E3 2015

It's no secret that E3 2015 was absolutely fantastic for gamers. The big names had some bombs to drop and the real winners were us the gamers. To say that it's going to be a very expensive Holiday this year is a massive understatement. But there were some things that stood out for me, a few things that I wanted to see at E3 that weren't shown or mentioned.

Nintendo Press Event at E3 2015 - Part 2

Fire Emblem has never really been my bag but it's clear that Fire Emblem Fates is going to build on what made Awakening such a success: classic Fire Emblem combat, a bevy of character relationships to forge, and excellent character design by Yusuke Kozaki. Nintendo hasn't addressed whether or not Fates will be releasing in two separate retail versions with DLC story scenarios like it will in Japan, but either way this might be one of the summer must-haves. With a June 25th release date there's not much of a wait left for the quintessential strategy RPG series' return.

Nintendo Press Event at E3 2015 - Part 1

Let's take a look at the first half of the Big N's Tuesday announcements.

Nintendo's E3 approach has been shifting for the last few years. They've discovered that they can still get the same kind of groundswell and keep the conversation Nintendo-centric even without spending millions on a massive staged press event.

Radial Dialogue - Episode 13 - YouTube vs. Twitch

Hopefully by now you've all had a chance to look at the Mario Party 10 review that was posted up earlier this week, if not (or if you wanted to see it in operation live) we played through a Bowser Party tonight on Radial Dialogue! Jen played out the role of King Koopa and well... it was interesting, to say the least.

Radial Dialogue - Episode 12 - X-Files and Preacher

Hopefully some of you were able to join us, it does look like the viewership is (slowly) growing, which is exciting and rewarding for us here! Episode 12 deviates from the video-game centric talk though and allows Jen and I the opportunity to talk about some stuff (outside of gaming) that had us excited today. Chiefly amongst those pieces were the details surrounding a particular casting for the upcoming AMC series Preacher and the return of X-Files to Fox!

Radial Dialogue - Episode 11 - Twitch, Security and Skin

Welcome, fans! There’s plenty of talk and rage on the most recent episodes as Jen and I dig through a couple of stories that we had things to say about. Twitch was attacked recently, causing everyone to need a change of their passwords… good thing they don’t store your credit card information!

New Nintendo Hardware Hinted

A scant two and a half years into the Wii U's admittedly worrisome sales life, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata is starting to leak ideas about Nintendo's "next hardware", codenamed NX.

Come on fellas, even the Dolphin is more creative than that.

As far as the actual hardware though (which was asked about at a shareholders' meeting), Iwata-san made a point of saying that Nintendo was "not at a dead end of any kind in which we are out of ideas", and made a point of saying "we first make sure that those who have already purchased out platforms are satisfied."

Radial Dialogue - Episode 1 - The Oscars

This morning we premiered the first episode of Radial Dialogue! Thanks to everyone that joined us live. We did have a few technical issues (as per Shogun tradition) which have (hopefully) been ironed out. Moving forwards the show should start on time and become smoother. Below you'll see the show notes, along with links to the topics discussed.
