Xbox Live Gold Membership Discounted $20

Ever since the original Xbox, Microsoft changed the online space by making it a paid service. While Sony fought, for years, to maintain a free online service for their gamers, the model eventually was adopted by them as well.

Gamers today now have to pay, regardless of platform (unless we're counting the Wii U), to play their video games online.

March Games with Gold Titles Leaked, Double in April!

Earlier this morning an image surfaced with information regarding the Xbox “Games with Gold” promotion showing off not only what we can look forward to in March (a bit early) but also revealing the fact that in the following month, April, we’ll get twice as many free games.

The image surface on NeoGaf this morning and was subsequently picked up and ran on virtually every game news site. Chances are pretty good you’ve already seen it, if not here’s the image and link to the thread on NeoGaf:

GTA V Heists Finally Receive Release Date

Since its original launch, way back in September 2013, the question on everyone's mind has been "when are we getting Heists?" If you're not familiar with GTA - and if you aren't I have no idea what you're doing on a video game website - the game mode is one that was announced well before release and is intended to feature online heist missions with your friends.

ShogunGamer Game of the Year - Part 4

In our final chapter of the Game of the Year saga, we break down the best console exclusives of 2014 before winding down with a LENGTHY discussion about what THE game of the year was to be. Be warned for those who have been listening to the podcast version to see how the winners were picked: This is the lengthiest podcast of the group by almost double.

Winners are shown at the top of the list and marked with asterisks.

ShogunGamer Game of the Year - Part 1

The time, being the end of the year, has come for us to begin our breakdown of the very best games of 2014. Last week the writing staff of Shogun Gamer hopped on a Skype call and locked ourselves in a virtual room to hash out what we believed was the best of the best.

2014 Game Retrospective - Part 3

Last week, under the shroud of a Skype call, Shogun Gamer staff began the process of narrowing down the best games of 2014. Thankfully due to an abundance of re-masters this past year, we were able to move through our deliberations with relative easy and speed.

Next week we'll unveil the full list and its winners, along with an accompanying podcast so you can hear for yourself how each call was made. For now, let's keep running down some of the big moments (possitive and negative) of 2014, shall we?

2014 Game Retrospective - Part 2

Welcome to day 2 of our continuing recap of 2014. The Shogun Gamer staff is hard at work putting together their list of favorites from this past year, but in the meantime Casey and I will continue to run down some of the best (and more likely, the worst) games, features, and trends of 2014 in gaming.

Far Cry 4: Unnecessary Animal Slaughter Simulator 2K14

As the sun set over Rook Island, I looked upon my works with joyful fatigue as the once-beleaguered native inhabitants celebrated their newfound freedom from the clutches of drug-fuelled madmen. I sniped soldiers, set C4 traps for the unaware enemy, and blew up Galapagos turtles for funsies. I wore my magical tattoos with pride as I vengefully tore through the jungles with naught but my knife and my almost pathological thirst for virtual blood.

TL;DR - Sept 22 - Steam Upgrade, USFIV Omega, 900p Xbone

Hello and good-evening for those late-nighters that have stumbled in upon the return of Shogun Gamer and in specific it’s semi-reoccurring truncation of the news named TL;DR. If you’re joining us here for the first time in this segment the principle is simple enough: There are some news segments that get launched out there that aren’t big enough for our editorialized articles, but we still feel the need to bring to you in some form.

Mighty No. 9 [First Impressions]

A couple of years back I had the opportunity to attend GDC (Game Developers Conference) thanks to my time here at Shogun. To this day I hold it to be the epitome of gaming conventions. If you have the opportunity to attend, you simply must.
