Fist Bump or Bitch Slap: Crackdown 2 or Bobby Kotick

This is the love/hate relationship between me and plenty of other people in the world of gaming. Every week I will pick someone who gets my Fist-bump for doing a good deed, someone who gets my undesirable Bitch-Slap for doing something wrong (or just something that pisses me off), and I'll share my experience/opinion along the way.

Crackdown 2 [Review]

Overall Feeling:
Crackdown 2 is pure and un-adulterated fun. From start to finish the game is all about creating your own experience. Whether you want to spend hours roaming rooftops for agility orbs, or pound the pavement to clean up the streets with up to three friends, there's a little something for everyone that makes this a must-have for any Xbox owner.
The Pros:
Plenty of fun to be had. Multiple options of gameplay/style. One of the best multiplayer experiences to date. A focus on gameplay rather then trying to make an amazing story, or re-inviting competitive multiplayer.
The Cons:
Cars no longer transform when you level up. The graphics don't seem to have improved all that much. The campaign is rather short, especially if you have help.
ShogunGamer.com Rating :
9

The original Crackdown is a game that not a lot of people got to appreciate, until the end of the Halo 3 beta. While the title received plenty of attention, and garnered plenty of purchases, the main draw originally was to Halo fans looking to obtain copies of the Beta key for early entry into the world of Halo 3 multiplayer. To people that actually played the game; this was a bit of a disappointment, considering that Crackdown turned out to be a whole lot of fun.

Crackdown 2 Animated Series: Episode 2 "Evil Seed"

A while back we alerted you to a new animated series that would be running over the course of the next month or so leading up to the Crackdown 2 release. Well the schedule is progressing on-time, and that means we have another episode to lay your peepers on. Episode number two entitled “Evil Seed” showcases one of the new characters in the world of Crackdown: Catalina Thorne. She looks to be the catalyst for “The Freaks” as a scientist who was working on the Agency cloning program gone rouge.

New Crackdown 2 ViDoc Unleashes the Toy Box

For all those out there that are as excited for a Crackdown sequel as I am, there’s some new footage out today. “Toy Box” is the third and final ViDoc from developer Ruffian Games, and does a great job of establishing hype for the upcoming title by showing off some of the new gear that you’ll be able to play around with.

My personal favourite has to be the tethers. After playing about 70 hours of Just Cause 2, I’m eager to be provided with the option of multiple tethers, elasticity, and multiplayer.

Crackdown 2 Gets an Animated Series

It seems as though another large video game franchise is going the prequel movie/series route. It was announced today that Microsoft and Machinima has partnered up to bring a 5 episode arch of Crackdown to us. The series is an animated one, which will be airing over the next few weeks. The point of the series is to bridge the gap between the first and second games, letting you get an idea of what’s happened to the city that caused such a dramatic difference in the locale in Crackdown 2.

New Crackdown 2 Developer Diary Reveals The Sky Is the Limit

Check out the second developer diary episode from Ruffian Games for Crackdown 2. The second episode is titled “Nothing is Sacred” and it explores how much freedom and creativity gamers will have in the new sandbox-shoot’em-up. Beating down giant beach balls never looked so good.

I’m also amped by how it looks when playing this game in co-op. This will just make the Crackdown 2 experience more chaotic, destructive and AWESOME!

Fights, Camera, Action!: The Latest Action Trailer For Crackdown 2

Check out the latest trailer for Ruffian Games follow up sequel to Crackdown dubbed: "Fight, Camera, Action!" The trailer was shown exclusively released on Machinima.com's Youtube Channel.

Play Crackdown 2's Rocket Tag at PAX East

Corey and Ian are on their way to Boston right now to lock down Shogun’s coverage of the first ever PAX East. I’m stuck in Vancouver. While I had every interest in going to PAX East, it’s unfortunate that it didn’t work out. I may have been disappointed about that fact, but I was never really angry at it until now.

Crackdown 2 set for a Summer release

Typically the Summer period is a long drought when it comes to game releases. With a few exceptions there’s usually not a lot to play until things begin to heat up around September. That looks to change this year with the announcement that Crackdown 2 will be released both in North America and Europe in July.

X10 Spotlight: Crackdown 2

While there has been a flood of information about games like Fable III and Halo: Reach, other favourites didn’t end up getting the star-treatment I was hoping for. Case in point: X10’s coverage of Crackdown 2. I was looking to hearing and seeing a lot more about this game then what ended up being provided, regardless there are a few tidbits to be provided, and some new screenshots to ogle.

A few Crackdown 2 tidbits

Many 360 fans shouted with glee when Microsoft showed a teaser trailer for Crackdown 2 at their E3 2009 conference. The first Crackdown game gained a huge following who loved its art style and the badass feeling that they felt when they picked cars up to throw at gang members or when they scaled a massive building only to jump off and strike a badass landing.
