Peter Molyneux

Forrmer SCE Boss Heads To Microsoft, "Betrayalton" and Fanboy Rantings Ensue

The video game industry sees established figures come and go and in some cases that results in a few folks landing in unexpected places.  For the most part figures central to their companies such as Cliffy B, Jack Tretton, and The Houser Brothers have stayed with their respective companies but the same can’t be said of everyone and that includes former SCE Worldwide Studios boss Phil Harrison.

TL;DR - Mar 7 - Molyneux, WoW, 4Chan

As Day ‘numero tres’ winds down to a close, I had a chance to peak through some of the top stories of the day that weren’t hit up (either due to the fact that we were busy running around the floor covering appointments at GDC, or because the stories weren’t ‘big’ enough to necessitate a full feature). The items that caught my eye today: Peter Molyneux has left Lionhead. Blizzard has upped the ante on the ‘resurrection scroll’ and 4Chan massively trolls gaming journalists.

Peter Molyneux: Focus!

Peter Molyneux, I'm finally onto you.

Look, Fable and The Lost Chapters expansion were great. And after they came out, it almost didn't matter that you overhyped it all to hell, because they were still fun. It was almost refreshing to play a clever, simplistic RPG that did retain at least some measure of game-changing choices. You got to choose from one of four whole endings! That's pretty intense right there. With Fable 2, your team really improved on the game a lot. It had a better flow and a more expansive world, and even though you could turn a female character into a veritable amazon with just a couple of points in the Strength skill, it even looked a bit better. The spell system was refined and there were even more options for totally messing up your appearance. Good for you! We even got away with minimal hype on that one.

Fable III - PC [Review]

Overall Feeling:

The game that is said to be Peter Molyneux's crowning jewel was originally released last fall on consoles. The third and rumoured final game of the Fable franchise sets itself up for greatness. The PC version takes full advantage of all of the things that makes Fable III a complete game. For all of you Fable fans out there, the PC version is the way to go. The console version wasn't shy when it came to bugs and fell flat on numerous graphical aspects. The time it took to release the PC version was well worth the wait, this is the game Fable III was supposed to be.

The Pros:

+ The sharpest looking Lionhead game EVER!
+ Smooth game play
+ Fast and easy item downloads
+ Xbox controller capable

The Cons:

- Occasional (but few) animation failures
- Loading times could improve
