Some Interesting Details Have Arisen For Star Wars Kinect

Do you still remember that Star Wars Kinect game that’s in the works? You know, the one that C-3P0 himself (Anthony Daniels) supposedly saw and said was looking good so far.  Well as skeptical as I want to be about an on-rails Star Wars game utilizing the Kinect, some interesting details have leaked which reveal that we just won’t be disposing of Stormtroopers and other such foes in what could become the biggest Kinect game released this year.

First Impressions: Gears of War 3 Beta

Like most games now a days, there always has to be a sequel. In some cases several. Gears of War definitely fits into that category. With the beta for part three launching today, we find out if the newest instalment is worth something to add to your wish list this year.

Firstly I want to say this is the first time I’ve ever played Gears of War online. However, I’ve heard through several people that the online aspect of the series has fallen short.  Suffering from a case of the lags, it was under much speculation whether or not developer Epic Games could right the wrongs.

Will Free-To-Play Games Come To Xbox Live?

Next year could be a pivotal moment for the video game industry if a recent rumor actually pans out.  According to IGN, who cites a reliable source, Microsoft could be bringing free-to-play games to Xbox Live.  An ever growing staple in the PC arena, free-to-play games haven’t exactly made a debut on the consoles but that could ultimately change if Microsoft has their way.

C-3PO Has Played Star Wars Kinect And Apparently Likes It

Do you remember the Star Wars Kinect project that was unveiled during Microsoft’s E3 conference last year? If you don’t I don’t blame you seeing as how the demo wasn’t gameplay (see this example) and honestly the prospect of playing an on-rails Star Wars game doesn’t sound that enticing compared to flailing ones arms like a complete madman in the hopes of killing Stormtroopers and defeating the Empire.

Sega's Kinect Horror Game Rise of Nightmares Could Be a Killer App Based On These Details

I somewhat remember this being announced a little while back, but apparently Sega has a Kinect horror game coming out sometime this year dubbed Rise of Nightmares.  With the Kinect having so few core centric games at the moment, we could have a newfound go-to game for people who actually want to use the $150 piece of hardware they bought last November.  Anyway, while Sega has been relatively mum as far as what we can expect from Rise of Nightmares the fine folks over at the ESRB have gone and revealed several details about the game, which should make everyone (or at least Kinect o

Footage And Art Released For The Cancelled Perfect Dark Sequel

Usually when we get wind of a cancelled game it’s sad day for gamers.  Even promising projects are sadly cancelled at times for multiple reasons, whether it’s due to mass studio restructuring or fears about the future of the market.  This generation has been absolutely gut punching when it comes to cancellations as titles like Star Wars Battlefront 3 (cancelled twice btw) and Eight Days have both been AAA games that sadly had their lives cut short.

Torchlight [Review]

Overall Feeling:

Torchlight is an almost perfect port of the original PC version that will consume a mass quantity of time, hacking and slashing your way through a bottomless pit of dungeons.

The Pros:

+Easy pick up and play control scheme

+Hours of endless dungeon exploring and looting galore

+Beautiful bright color dungeons filled with deadly menagerie of creatures

The Cons:

-Big battles can lead to an occasional slow gameplay on screen

-Omission of co-op play

-Ho-hum story Rating :

When Torchlight was released back in 2009, the game wasn't exactly breaking new ground within the hack-and-slash RPG genre but it made up for it big time with its simplistic, addictive and fun formula. This is an RPG in its simplest and purest form with lots of loot to obtain and leveling of your character, while slaying a vast array of dungeon dwellers.

Double Fine Reveals Trenched, Their Latest Action Packed Game

Most of the time we’re used to seeing a developer crank out titles that are similar to one another, if not completely the same.  It’s understandable for a developer to stick to something they know or that is safe, but for some developers that’s just not their M.O.  Take for example Double Fine Productions, the studio best known for giving us the trippy experience that was Pyschonauts.  After giving us a platformer game, Double Fine went on to do an open-world/heavy metal/RTS/action game in the form of Brutal Legend and has since gone on to do small RPG and puzzle/adventure ga
