EA officially announces Mercs Inc.

Yesterday a video was leaked showing the latest installment of the Mercenaries franchise, titled Mercs Inc., and many assumed that the game was thrown in the garbage bin since developer Pandemic closed the previous week.  It was later confirmed that Mercs Inc. was still in development and now EA has officially announced the game and they even released one of those wonderful Press Releases too.

Mercs Inc. will still be released under the Pandemic banner and development is being headed up at the new studio in Playa Vista which totally means nothing to most folks.

With the sad closure of developer Pandemic the information floodgates have opened on what projects the studio was working on before being closed by Electronic Arts.  Some of the games Pandemic were working on included the new IP Legends for the PS3, 360 and PC and more familiar fare like another installment in their popular Mercenaries franchise.

A Possible Peak Into Future Mercenaries 3 Features?

This afternoon Electronic Arts posted a link to survey on their Twitter profile concerning the future of the Mercenaries franchise.  While video game companies conducting surveys isn’t a big deal it should be noted that the Mercenaries survey, which was only available to the first 200 people to take it, brought up some potential drastic changes to the series.
