Ratchet & Clank 2016 [Review]

Overall Feeling:

Ratchet and Clank is much more than the standard "remaster" or HD remake that we've been inundated with over the last couple of years. It not only improves the graphics, but adjusts the maps players are used to and re-writes portions of the story to modernize it and give it a new spin while making jokes at its own expense. The game is not only beautiful, but a whole lot of fun to run through (even if it's not your first time).

The Pros:

+Beautiful remasters character models and landscapes.

+Fun story with plenty of nods at it being a remaster.

+Solid mechanics that have been updated for the modern area.

The Cons:

-As with all remasters: I would have preferred a full new title.

Over the last couple of years I may have become an Xbox "fanboy" due to Microsoft being my perferred platform over the last two generations of console. Coming up as a kid though, my roots are firmly planted in the Sony Playstation lineage. Well, if you don't go too far back anyways where you'll find that I bleed blue and have been and always will be a Sega fanboy.

Xbox One vs. The Internet [E3 2013]

During the week of E3 we, the gamers, are inundated with an abundance of Video Game news. The primary source of which is the panels, which we tend to review, dissect, criticize, and “improve” as though we were those snobby bitches on the E! Channel talking about award-show attire.

Not to say that I’m immune to it though.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Is Filled With Epic Bosses, Tiny Critters and Snarky Robots [Video]

It’s odd to imagine that a new Ratchet & Clank game is coming out next month but such a thing is actually happening.  We may have last seen Ratchet & Clank two years ago in the rather terrific R&C: A Crack in Time but now the duo are back with a few friends and enemies in tow with the multiplayer centric Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

New 7 minute video of Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time

For some reason the buzz around the latest Ratchet & Clank adventure started off quite slow but things seem to be amping up now since we're over a month away from the release of the game.  We've seen a nice amount of images for the game and brief video snippets but now we have an a nice beefy 7 minute gameplay video which should win over some people who were still on the fence about the latest R&C adventure.

A few new pics from the latest Ratchet and Clank adventure

It's odd that a new Ratchet & Clank game is being released this year but the hype for it is almost non-existent so far.  We’ve seen the game in action at various events such as E3 but even at a big event like that its presence was somewhat small. I don’t know if we should be worried or if it’s just a case of our attention being elsewhere on the 500 other games being released this holiday season.

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time Announced

We all knew it was going to happen and if you played Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty then you definately knew it was going to happen.  Today Sony officially announced the latest installment in the Ratchet & Clank series, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time. Aside from the PR announcement there isn't any media or additional details though Insomniac's Full Moon Show podcast is set to return early next month so we'll probably get some new details from that.
