Halo 5 Guardians [Review]

Overall Feeling:

There are a lot of changes in Guardians, mechanically and otherwise, most of which are for the better. While the campaign's narrative does have some major shortcomings, it still created some amazing Halo moments that I'll remember forever. The multiplayer has also been updated and refined also adding a completely new Warzone mode that is incredibly fun and will be for quite some time.

The Pros:

+Legendary mode is quite challenging
+Warzone is fantastic and a great addition
+Some memorable set pieces

The Cons:

-Squad AI is shoddy, at best
-Campaign heavily focuses on Osiris Team
-Short campaign with an unclimactic ending

As a massive Halo fan, I always become increasingly excited the closer the launch of a new Halo game nears. Halo 5: Guardians was no different. It's been 3 years since Halo 4, and we'll finally get to continue on with Master Chief's story and face a new world-ending threat that must be stopped. Being the first Halo on the Xbox One, Guardians has a lot to prove and 343 Industries has taken a lot of measures to ensure that this Halo is different in many ways.

Halo 5 Collector's Edition Disc Upgrade Process

It's no secret that I'm a massive Halo fan. The amount of Halo related toys, games, and other items I have aside from the games is borderline obscene. The long awaited Halo 5: Guardians is a few short weeks from release and with any major AAA release, there's also an accompanying pricey Collector's Edition that nets you a bunch of physical goodies alongside the game for the massive fans like myself.

HALO Master Chief's Helmet - Metal Earth 3D Model

I'm not only an avid gamer but a collector as well, when it comes to anything video game related. So, when I was in a local store and saw a Halo 3D metal model kit, I had to grab it and see what it was all about.

These come in a flat package with all the parts you need cut into the sheet(s) of metal and you're tasked with removing the individual parts from the sheet, then tediously putting it together correctly via the included instructions.

Halo: Forward Unto Dawn Episode 4 Is Now Available

At long last the intense sci-fi action the Halo series is known to provide is present in Forward Unto Dawn. After the shocking turn of events in episode 3 which could’ve used a Drowning Pool song as background/end credits music, the latest episode of Forward Unto Dawn picks up and officially puts the action in overdrive mode.

Halo: Forward Unto Dawn Episode 1 Is Now Available

Today will either be a good or bad day for Halo fans since it brings us our first episode of Halo: Forward Unto Dawn. In case you’re a Halo or video game fan that has been busy building their end of society cabin in the woods, Halo: Forward Unto Dawn is a brand new web series that delves into a new area of the Halo lore while still providing us with the elements the series is best known for.

VFS Game Design Expo 2011

A few weeks back I got to take part in the annual Vancouver Film School’s Game Design Expo. For the second year in a row, the VFS GDE was phenomenal. The event itself is very much based on drawing students to the game design program that is offered at VFS. The build of the weekend event is a Saturday filled with interviews and a Sunday chalked full of Campus and Course overview.

Halo 5 Logo Spotted At A Microsoft Showcase

At a Microsoft presentation given to a Channel 4 Reporter at Microsoft Redmond's Offices concerning the future application of the Microsoft Kinect, a Halo 5 logo was spotted. Seen right next to logos for "Grandma's Room" and Project Gotham Racing, here's the main question about the Halo 5 logo: what happened to Halo 4?

Possible Details on the Halo HD Remake [RUMOR]

For the past few months there have been rumblings of HD remake of the first Halo game.  Such a thing would be rather fitting at this time as we’re reaching the 10th anniversary of Halo’s debut on the original Xbox, which once again makes me feel very old for some reason.  Despite the rumblings of a Halo HD remake we never really got any substantial details and Microsoft themselves commented that the business model of HD remakes wasn’t one the company was actively looking into.  But now we finally have some firm details on the Halo HD rumor which I think may not go over well w

Versus Verdict: Commander Sheppard Wins

After quite along debate between me and another writer, who will remain anonymous, and of course you guys helped us come to a conclusion. It's obviously Commander Sheppard. He is the ultimate soldier unlike Master Chief who was designed for war. Commander Sheppard had to earn his reputation for being the ultimate badass in the entire galaxy.

Versus: Commander Sheppard vs. Master Chief

We here at Shogun Gamer are starting a new feature article that will be released weekly. It's called, Versus. It's kind of like a deadliest warrior for gamers. We give you two characters from the video game universe, put them down in an environment that we think would even the odds and let you, the readers, decide the outcome. Of course you may have trouble deciding when it comes down to the crucial finale. So we'll also put some info up on the characters that we've decided to put face to face in their fight to the death.
