Gears of War Movie Being Shopped Around Hollywood Again

Most of the time when a video game is going the film route and hits a wall during production it’s usually stalled for good.  Sure, there are some rare exceptions at times such as the Doom movie lingering in development for nearly a decade before it finally hit theaters, but even when a video game movie has attached star power, such as Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx in Kane & Lynch, production can be shuttered for good.

Fresh Gears of War: Judgement Multiplayer Footage

The fact that the Gears of War franchise is continuing past Gears 3 is indeed odd since it seemed like the series had some much desired closure. With a bunch of characters dead, the Locust seemingly a thing of the past, and Marcus finally able to shack up with Anya and have blonde haired kids with burly muscles, it was believed that gamers had seen the last of Gears. Jump to E3 last month and Microsoft pulled a fast one on us with the reveal of Gears of War: Judgment, a new prequel revolving around Cole, Baird, and a new motley crew of COG soldiers.

The Name Game

In the realm of video games (our realm) there are a lot of things with titles. There isn’t always a hidden message in the name, but sometimes there are great stories, an ode or even just a creation of identity. Set on a journey to explore these instances and bring them to light, I intended on creating a small portfolio of video game names and their possible hidden agendas. What grew from the idea was a full-blown exploration into the science and ideas behind anything with a name or title in this industry.

Gears of War Kinect Will Reportedly Become A Reality [RUMOR]

Late last year we received an interesting rumor from IGN concerning a new Gears of War game that just so happened to utilize the Kinect.  Originally it appeared that Microsoft and Epic Games was set to debut their new Gears title at the Spike VGAs in December but on the day of the event it was announced that Microsoft pulled the game from the event for reasons unknown.  Since then, we haven’t heard much of what Microsoft and Epic Games have planned but last month Microsoft filed

New Gears of War trademark could be for the impending spin-off project

At the Spike Video Game Awards last month, Epic Games and Microsoft were set to announce a new project, rumored to be a Gears of War spin-off.  But then on the day of the event Microsoft’s Larry Hryb (Major Nelson) took to his blog to announce that the Epic/Microsoft announcement would be postponed until further notice.

NECA announces toys for Splinter Cell and Borderlands

With the New York Toy Fair now underway, toy manufacturer and maker of all things awesome Neca has announced via their Twitter that they will be expanding their current roster of video game properties.  NECA has already done figures for such big franchises such as God of War, Gears of War and BioShock but now the company will be making figures for Borderlands, Splinter Cell and BioShock 2.

New images of Marcus & Dom in Lost Planet 2

Last month out of nowhere it was announced that Lost Planet 2 would feature the hardcore and extremely stoic dudebros that are Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago from the Gears of War series as guest characters. Obviously when you combine two massive franchises like Lost Planet and Gears of War the results are going to be good, even if it’s almost a cameo appearance of sorts.

The worlds of Lost Planet and Gears of War collide

Besides the somewhat unexciting announcement that Monster Hunter Online would be appearing on Xbox 360 the Capcom-Microsoft conference did have one interesting and somewhat surprising announcement.  We’re used to seeing interesting guest appearances in games before such as Kratos and Link appearing in different installments of the Soul Calibur franchise but I think no one ever expected to see Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago (the Gears of War dudebros) appear in the snowy world of Lost Planet and proceed to take down a massive Akrid.
