GDC 2010

QuarterSave: Conventions and Motion Controls EP27

This week has been a big week for us at QuarterSave/ShogunGamer. Earlier in the week came the confirmation that we will be heading down to this year’s big show: E3. Not only was there the promise of conventions to come, but this week heralded GDC 2010! There was plenty to talk about out of GDC, most notably a whole slew of new information from Sony regarding the “Playstation Move.” This brought a trend to mind for this week’s topic of discussion: motion controls.

Leaked images of Deus Ex 3

Back in the day there was this PC game called Deus Ex and it was a pretty big deal. Combining fps gaming with a deep narrative driven experience that was more akin to a RPG than a game like Doom, Deus Ex was a monumental hit.  Then Deus Ex got a sequel in the form of Deus Ex: Invisible War and for the best everyone decided to wipe the existence of the game from their minds.

When Crysis was released on the PC it was an absolute powerhouse that required the most high end graphics cards and set-ups in order to play.  Now it’s time for the inevitable sequel and developer Crytek is aiming to achieve the same level of quality that was found on the PC but this time have it be possible on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sony debuts its motion controller: the PlayStation Move

As some of you may seen already Sony has officially announced that the PlayStation motion device will be called PlayStation Move. The name may not be as awesome as Arc but Move still fits given the nature of the controller.

Sony releases dev diary for the PS Motion Controller

With today being the first day of GDC that means we’re close to learning new info on Sony’s upcoming motion controller.  Chances are we probably won’t learn things such as how much it’ll cost or what the launch line-up will comprise of but we should still get some juicy details like whether or not it’ll be called Arc.

American McGee goes from Alice to Oz and now it's Little Red Riding Hood

After giving us unique visions of iconic tales such as “Alice in Wonderland” and “Wizard of Oz” the awesomely named American McGee is now tackling the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.  McGee’s versions of Alice and Oz (which was limited to a toy line) were known for their dark and mature characters designs and in the case of Alice the game was known for its rather gruesome violence and an Alice that usually had blood on her.
