Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon [Review]

Overall Feeling:

Blood Dragons is a love-letter to b-movie sci-fi films from the 1980s. It is genius in its satirical take on the iconic sub-culture of the material itself as well as video games in general. Fans of action movies, the 80s, satire, or just goofy action games in general will fall in love with this game before the tutorial is completed.

The Pros:

+Great sense of humor.

+Sense of loyality its inspiration (80s action films).

+Same great gameplay of its predecessor (Far Cry 3).

+Stunning visuals (both the neon in-game, and the 16-bit cut-scenes).

The Cons:

-Character customization has been almost completely removed to make way for a straight forward leveling system (earn a level, get a new game-choosen ability).

ShogunGamer.com Rating :
10

Far Cry: Blood Dragon is a perfect, or rather the only, example of what fans of the 80s sci-fi/action b-movie genre have been hoping for out of video games for about the last 30 years. Of course that’s a pretty ridiculous standard for Ubisoft to try and live up to… but it was refreshing to see how serious, or rather not-serious, the team building the game took the project.

Ubisoft Announces Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, New Spin-Off Starring Michael Biehn

Opting to shake things up in a way never before expected, Ubisoft has announced further details for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Once believed to be a potential April Fool’s Day joke based on how crazy the box art was (it had a laser eye shooting T-Rex for crying out loud), Far Cry 3 is indeed receiving a rather sizeable add-on/spin-off that almost seems like it would be better suited for the world of Saints Row.

Far Cry 3 Hands-on [PAX Prime 2012]

Here’s the problem I have with the Far Cry series, as a whole: It demos really, really well. Every single time they put a demo out there, and I go hands-on for the first time, I find myself absolutely blown away. The problem being that the games themselves, when you get that full-version game you’re so excited for, always seem to drop the ball somehow.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Confrence Recap & Impressions

After experiencing the awkward 2011 E3 showing from Ubisoft (the one where they announced they invented laser tag), I wasn’t really sure what to expect from them this year. What Ubisoft ended up delivering was a streamlined presentation that catered directly to its core E3 audience.

TL;DR - Mar 23 - Mohawks, Prey 2, Adventure Time!

Happy Friday fellow Shogunites! The week, as long as it may have felt, has finally concluded its grind. Its time to kick back, relax, and dig into whatever game you’re currently working your way through… unless you’re the going out on Friday night kind, in which case: Happy Saturday! Today’s TL;DR offers up some exciting news for the DS in the form of an Adventure Time game. Ubisoft is making plans to shave heads and tattoo attendees at PAX East (exciting!), and some GDC cancellations have the internet talking games that might be canned.
