Activision Outlines Their New Plans (True Crime canned, new CoD service)

I think Activision has hit a new time low today while still maybe recognizing that they should improve things but at the same time looking like a completely soulless corporation.  Announced during their financial report, Activision has decided to cease development on the 2011 version of Guitar Hero along with revealing that they don’t plan to release a new iteration in the Tony Hawk Skateboarding franchise. In addition to Guitar Hero getting the axed, DJ Hero has also been given the pink slip and so have the developers behind it.

DJ Hero sales may not be the hot fire we expected

I usually don’t like to look into what industry analysts have to say since most of the time they’re talking out of their ass. But I couldn’t help but slightly interested in what analyst Doug Creutz had to say about the sales of Activision’s DJ Hero.

According to Creutz demand for the game is “well below” expectations based on a survey taken with online retailers.  Creutz goes on to say that the game could only sell 600,000 units in Q4 which is a nice amount but is a far from previous estimates that had the game at 1.6m units.

Daft Punk spins some good beats in these new DJ Hero videos

With the release of DJ Hero two weeks away we're still getting a nice flow of info and media for the game.  After getting the full set list and the exclusive tracks by Jay-Z and Eminem in the Renegade Edition last week we now have some videos featuring Daft Punk as our weekly DJ Hero content.

Try out DJ Hero this Sunday

If you’re like me and have are a bit hesitant about Activision’s upcoming buttery beats game DJ Hero then this Sunday you’ll be able to check out the game for yourself thanks to GameStop.  On Sunday GameStop stores across U.S. will be having a special DJ Hero event where the game will be playable and those who show up can also enter contests for a bevy of prizes ranging from simple stuff like hats and key chains to more substantial things like winning the Renegade Edition of the game (i.e. the really expensive one with exclusive songs) signed by Eminem.

OMG, Activision is prepping a sequel to DJ Hero!!!!! (-_-)

Prepare to be surprised as it looks like Activision is in the early stages of developing a sequel to its upcoming buttery beats game DJ Hero. I know this almost is a non-news story since Activision loves money and they’ve been clearly setting up for DJ Hero to become a yearly franchise on the same level as Guitar Hero.

Daft Punk brings the goodness to DJ Hero

It’s not news that the French techno duo Daft Punk is amongst the artists lending tracks to DJ Hero but today Rolling Stone has shed some light on the full extent of the groups’ involvement with the project.

Not only will we be able to enjoy the buttery beats of Daft Punk but the game will fully immerse players into the awesomeness of DP as the massive sci-fi pyramid that was used in their stage show and accompanying seizure inducing lightshow of awesome has been recreated in the game and will serve as their venue.

European DJ Hero pricing may turn some off

Consumers are slowly warming up to the idea of spending $80-$150 on additional peripherals that are required to play games but Activision seems to be really pushing their luck with DJ Hero. Don’t get me wrong, the game looks like a blast to play and I was quite impressed with the various E3 video demonstrations I saw but one key problem that many including myself have with the game is the price.

First details on DJ Hero

Activision’s upcoming DJ Hero has been under a veil of secrecy with only a few rumors and a hint at what its turntable will look like being released so far. Thankfully score tracking site ScoreHero has the first info on DJ Hero from the upcoming Game Informer preview and the info certainly won’t disappoint those who have been waiting for the game.
