Clash of the Titans

More demigod action in these new Clash of the Titans - The Video Game screens

I’m going to be honest and say that I thought the “Clash of the Titans” remake sucked big time. Somehow despite a solid cast, a good director and a basic premise the film was just a monumental disappointment for me.  Most of the issues the film had can be chalked up to story changes made during filming which in essence changed the whole theme of the movie.

Even more screens from Clash of the Titans - The Video Game

Yesterday we got our first trailer for Namco Bandai’s Clash of the Titans video game. Being a fan of the previous media showings of the game I was relieved when I saw that it didn’t look like crap in motion. Now Namco Bandai has released some additional screens for the game featuring most of the enemies and locations from the trailer.

Clash of the Titans - The Video Game premier trailer

Last week Clash of the Titans was released in theaters in North America and I was one of the many who saw the film.  Being a huge fan of Greek mythology I was rather hyped for Clash but sadly I left the theater extremely underwhelmed and disappointed.  The video game adaptation of Clash looks to be everything the movie wasn’t: colorful, epic, action-packed and filled with a deep roster of mythological baddies.

Coming off the rollercoaster ride of awesome that was God of War 3 it may be a bit difficult to play Clash of the Titans. Clash is of course an entirely different beast, both in terms of gameplay and it’s depiction of Greek mythology. But differences aside, the shadow cast by GOW3 may be too huge for Clash to make a name for itself.

Perhaps posting these now is a bit futile since God of War 3 is coming out next week but Namco Bandai have released some new images of the upcoming film based Clash of the Titans game. The last time the game had any media for it was back in December and we still haven’t seen the game in motion yet. Usually in most cases this would point to the game being in a dire condition, which would be suitable since it’s a movie tie-in game. But for some reason I still have a smidgen of confidence in the game.

Clash of the Titans gets reshoots and perhaps another addition

So earlier this week we got a proper look at the Clash of the Titans remake which if I may say so myself looks pretty awesome. I don’t know about the rest of you but seeing mythical creatures like the Kraken and Pegasus along with Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson looking like complete bad-asses who won’t take crap from anyone has the film on my must-see list for next year.

New Clash of the Titans trailer

One film that many including myself are looking forward to is the remake of the classic action/adventure romp Clash of the Titans.  Featuring a star studded cast including Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades and Sam Worthington as Perseus the movie had a lot of geek interest but a few weeks ago some of our hope was crushed when a less than stellar trailer was released.

It’s somewhat odd that we haven’t seen more of the upcoming Clash of the Titans remake. Sure, the movie doesn’t come out until March and most of the effect shots probably aren’t finished but aside from a few images and behind-the-scenes videos there’s been little to no news on the project.

I don't know why we haven't seen more movies based around Greek mythology. The characters and stories are rich and are prime material for a summer action movie or a smaller dramatic film so it's quite odd why Hollywood or anyone else hasn't jumped on the Greek mythology bandwagon.  Damn, I think the last movie to tackle it was Clash of the Titans back in 1981 and now since that movie is being remade we'll finally getting some more Greek mythology goodness.
