Aliens: Colonial Marines Is Finally Given A Release Date

At long last Sega has finally announced a release date for Aliens: Colonial Marines, the oft-delayed Aliens fps game that could either be amazing and give fans of the Aliens franchise everything they want or it could be so bad that being impregnated by a face hugger would be a more enjoyable experience.  Originally set to drop in the first half of 2012, Sega and developer Gearbox Software decided to let Aliens: Colonial Marines bake in the oven a bit more since I guess an estimated four year+ dev time wasn’t enough to ensure the product was in tip top shape.

New Aliens: Colonial Marines Screens and Video May Either Please Or Disappoint You

If there’s one sci-fi FPS game that people seem to be generally excited about its Aliens: Colonial Marines.  Being the franchise that initially started the space marine craze, at least in the world of cinema, Aliens was a kick-ass film and having the opportunity to experience that in a video game is something that may be too good to pass up, even if we’re all sick and tired of dudebro corridor shooters.

Aliens: Colonial Marines Collector's Edition Leaked, Looks Slightly Cool

We may have our first major piece of “it’s kind of cool but is kind of silly junk” video game item of 2012.  The wallets of consumers may be thinning in some respects due to the economy, but that isn’t stopping video game publishers from releasing Collector’s Editions' that feature a $40 mark up so we can partake in the joy of having one extra weapon or a nice statue to collect dust on our shelf.  Today we have what appears to be a leak for the Aliens: Colonial Marines Collector’s Edition, which sadly doesn’t include a mini face hugger.

First Footage Of Aliens: Colonial Marines Is Glimpsed In This Terrifying New Trailer

Some gamers may have totally cast Aliens: Colonial Marines aside since the game seemingly seemed to be in development stasis mode for four years.  Not only did the long development time and lack of media put a damper on the hype for Aliens: Colonial Marines but the whole issue of the game being based on a pre-existing license probably has some gamers being a bit skeptical.

Aliens: Infestation For The Nintendo DS Is Officially Announced And Dated

Thought to be long dead, Aliens: Infestation for the Nintendo DS thankfully came back to life, almost in a surprise way akin to a sole xenomorph messing things up Alien 3 style (that intro still has me pissed nearly twenty years later).  As we all saw back in May, an Australian government certification website revealed that Aliens: Infestation for the DS was still alive and kicking and now Sega has officially announced the project.
